Texas 2 Announces Six Founding Members


DALLAS, Texas (Wednesday, April 24th, 2024) -- Six leading soccer clubs in Texas have been announced as the founding members of the newly formed Texas 2, which is an independent second division league founded by MLS Next clubs in Texas for boys U11-U19. 


Inspired by MLS Next, Texas 2 will provide its clubs and players the best player development experience, the highest levels of competition offered in Texas, and an easy travel schedule all within the state of Texas.


"Embarking on a mission to revolutionize youth soccer across Texas, Texas 2 is proud to unite six clubs from all corners of the state, from Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Austin, and the Rio Grande Valley," said Texas 2 in a statement. "Our goal is to provide players and clubs unprecedented access to top-tier competition and elite coaching right here in Texas. With a commitment to delivering an unparalleled professional game day experience, Texas 2 places players at the forefront, empowering them to shape their futures, whether it be through collegiate opportunities, professional endeavors, or personal growth."


The six founding clubs are:

  • AC River

  • Capital City Soccer Club

  • Dallas Hornets

  • GFI Academy

  • Houston Rangers

  • IDEA Toros

The Texas 2 inaugural season will kick off in fall 2024. Additionally, high school aged players will have the opportunity to engage in high school soccer, further enriching their developmental journey. Leadership from the founding members will form the technical committee, which will oversee all technical aspects of Texas 2.
